How protection works

One call, end to end.

From the moment a suspicious call is forwarded to the moment the household knows what was attempted.

  1. 01

    The attack

A call centre dials the household.

    • Spoofed caller IDA local or bank number on the display
    • A scriptBank, CRA, delivery, tech support, family emergency
    • A payment routeGift cards, e-transfer, crypto, a “safe account”
  2. 02

    The redirect

Unknown and suspicious calls go to the protection number first.

    • Protection numberOrdinary call forwarding; works with any carrier
    • Number intelligenceOrigin, caller-ID consistency, prior reports
    • Household phoneStays quiet; trusted contacts ring through
  3. 03

    The engagement

An agent answers as an ordinary person and keeps them talking.

    • Bilingual personaEnglish or Québec French, chosen for the caller
    • Draws out specificsWho they claim to be, numbers, websites, payment instructions
    • Gives nothingNo digits, no addresses, no actions
  4. 04

    The analysis

Every statement and every second of audio becomes structured evidence.

    • IndicatorsClaimed organisation, callback numbers, websites, payment routes
    • Risk scoreFixed rules, points traceable to the caller’s words
    • Voice profileEstimated age range, voice gender, accent and language, speaking patterns: probabilistic signals for linking calls, never identity
    • Campaign linksSame script, same voice patterns, same numbers or routes
  5. 05

    The sharing

Evidence goes where it can do some good, with consent and agreements.

    • The protected personA plain-language report: what was attempted, what to do
    • Their bankImpersonation claims and payment destinations
    • Their telecomNumbers, callback lines, campaign patterns
    • InvestigatorsSealed packages with integrity digests
Five stages, one call. The household phone never rings; everything the scammer says and sounds like becomes evidence.
The risk rules

Six rules. Fixed points. No black box.

The score is the sum of the rules that matched, capped at 100. These are the rules exactly as the engine applies them.

What trips it

  • +25
Authority claim combined with pressure to actThe caller claims to be a bank, an agency or a support desk, and also applies urgency or asks for secrecy.
  • +25
Request for a one-time code or a credentialThe caller asks for a one-time passcode, a password, a PIN or another account credential.
  • +15
Unverified website supplied by the callerThe caller gives a web address to visit.
  • +20
Request to move money on the caller’s instructionsThe caller asks for a transfer, a payment or a move to a “safe account”.
  • +10
Match with a campaign folderA number, website or payment route the caller gives is already filed from earlier calls. Every call adds to the folder it matches, so the next match is easier.
  • +20
Request for remote access to a deviceThe caller asks to install a tool, share a screen or take control of a device.

What the number means

  • 0–24
LowNo scam pattern yet. Zero means no evidence, not a safe caller.
  • 25–59
ModerateOne tactic observed. The agent keeps the caller talking.
  • 60–84
HighSeveral tactics. The household is warned; evidence is sealed.
  • 85–100
CriticalA full scam pattern. Ready to share with partners.

A score describes what the caller said. It is not a probability, and it never says who the caller is.

What the decision means

Read the score for what it is

Here is a real result from the engine, read the way the household and a partner would read it.

  • A decision you can audit

Every point has a rule and a quote behind it. Nothing in the score comes from a model’s opinion.

  • Claims, not identities

A caller ID and a claimed organisation are recorded as claims. Spoofing is assumed possible.

  • Links, not attribution

A shared indicator connects two calls. It does not say who is behind them.

  • Evidence, not a verdict

The report tells the household what was attempted and what to do next. Loss prevented is published only when it has been measured.
